EXTRAORDINARY RAGGING

STUDENT TIED TO HANDCART. Extraordinary treatment has been meted out to an unpopular scholar by Loughborough College students. Trussed to a handcart he was. pulled through the town as far as Bedford Square, where 150 students assembled and pelted him with bags of soot.

Throughout the whole of the afternoon, the student was tieTd to the cart, and during the ordeal he fainted. When evening came a student tied a handkerchief over his eyes, while he was smothered with soot. Rotten tomatoes and vegetables were thrust down his neck.

After the rag the unpopular student was taken through the town again, and when he was eventually liberated he was almost exhausted.
