The adjourned meeting of the Normanby Town Board was held on Friday night, there being present Messrs. C. J. Preston (chairman), A, Galloway, T. Lloyd and P. Leydon. An application was received for permission to erect two petrol pumps opposite a shop on Mountain Road. A resolution was passed that the application be granted and that an annual license fee of £2 per pump be charged on all pumps erected within the town district. Considerable discussion took place in connection with the main highways estimates for the ensuing year. These were eventually held over till the next meeting.

Miss Sylvia Tippett, who has been an inmate of the Hawera hospital for several months, has sufficiently recovered to be able to return to her home.

. Prior to her weddvng a gift aftemoofc was tendered Miss Ruth Grantham by her friends in Normanby. The function was ’ eld in St, Paul’s hall and was well attended. Miss Grantham received many gifts. In making the presentation Miss Myrtle Paislow assured .Miss Grantham that she had the good wishes of those present for a , happy and prosperous future. ■ EGMONT A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Egmont A. and P. Association at Hawera on Saturday fixed the date of the annual meeting of the society for May 17, nominations for the election of officers to close on May 8. Mr. IL Watt, Kakaramea, was elected a new member of the association.; Messrs. B. C. Lysaght and E. A. Washer were appointed a committee to finalise arrangements for a presentation to Mr. G. Ford, who recently retired on superannuation from the Department of Agriculture.
