SELECTION OF FELLOWSHIPS.. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 30. . The annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute was held to-day. The president, Dr. Parr, presided. He suggested the addition of the prefix Royal to the Institute’s name to differentiate it from other institutes of one kind and another in the Dominion. He also considered that a selection committee should be appointed to consider the claims of candidates for fellowships, as was done in Britain, though nominally all fellow’s had a vote. Dr. John Smith, director of the Carlsburg Laboratorium, Copenhagen, was elected an honorary members in recognition' of his oceanographic studies. The Rev. Dr. Holloway, of Otago University, was awarded the Hector Medal and the prize of £5 5s for botany.
