Robert McGowan, the solicitor who was remanded last week on bail of £14,900, did not. appear when, his case was called to-day. A further charge was preferred of theft of £3112 from a client. McGowan, lias been re-arrested. The magistrate yesterday issued a warrant for his re-arrest, and the police found him on Stradbroke Island in Moreton Bay, where ho was living’ with some fishermen. McGowan, a well-known Brisbane solicitor was arrested and charged with stealing £7OO, the property of a client. The prosecuting officer told the court that the alleged defalcations amounted to £21,000.
