FIGHTING FOR THREE HOURS
HANDICAPPED FIRE BRIGADE.

Wellington, Last Night.
Two large wogLu houses and their contents at Victoria Sti et, Petone, were totally destroyed by fire at 11.30 o’clock last night. A blustering wind was blowing, and to this being added a shockingly poor water press re, the brigade had an exceedingly difficult task to stop the further spread of the flames, the fight cont.auing three hours. The house in which the fire originated was occupied by Mrs. Patrick yQuinn and family, and was insured for z £lso in the Royal Exchange office and for £B5O in the State Office. The other, owned by Mrs. King, and occupied by her and Mrs. and Mr. Archer and family, was insured for £509 in the State Office. Mrs. Quinn’s furniture was insured for £490 in the London and I ancashire Office.
