The wee ifrock pictured will do beautifully for p,child from one to three years of age; jt is easily made, and there is nothing Jibout it to puzzle small dressmakers. Measure across baby’s-chest, and over liter shoulders; then cut a piece of .stuff ithree inches longer than this width, and twice the depth. (Muslin, lawn, or cambric will be best for the dress, and you’ll need about one and a half yards.) Fold .this piece of material in half widthways and lengthways and cut as shown in jt'ho upper part of diagram A. Now measure from baby’s chest to her &and cut two pieces of stuff this for the skirt, making each about of a yard wide. Take the smaller piece which you cut
x (first and which is to be the yoke of the ' little f rock, and bind the scoopod-out jicck with coloured ‘'bias binding.” Sew tip the side seams of the skirt, and bind itlio bottom edge with similar binding: then run a gathering thread along the (top edge, as shown in the lower part of diagram A. Pull up‘the gathers, back and. front, to fit the back and front of the yoke, and sew the skirt on to the ■ yoke, pinning it carefully first and taking pains to get the fullness evenly distributed, The frock now’ looks like diagram B, which shows you half of it. Bind the armholes and "stitch a band of (binding across the back and front of the yoke where it joins the skirt, to hide tho stitches, Cut-out two wee pockets, and draw a design like the one shown 'in diagram C on each; then work the' flowers, and leaves with pink, blue and green silk or wool. Sew the finished pockets into place, and then work similar jtiny posies on the corners of the yoke. Press the work carefully, tell baby to fehut her eyes, and pop the little garJttient over her curly head! Wendy’s Dressmaker,
