“AM UN DESIRABLE CITIZEN”
CONVICTION FOR STEALING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Oct. 5. In the Police Court, William Arthur Scott, for the theft of £4l at Auckland, came' up for sentence by the magistrate. The probation officer’s report showed that the accused was somewhat of a social parasite and was not a desirable citizen to keep in the country. Accused was ordered to come up for sentence within three months on the condition that he made immediate restitution a id left New Zealand permanently. A telegram on Wednesday said that Scott was charged with the theft of different sums of money, totalling £4l, the property of Margaret O’Connor, at Auckland. The police stated that last year accused was associated with a dancing school in Auckland run ny two sisters. He was given money to deposit in the bank on their behalf, but spent it instead. He had made restitution of £ll. Counsel said accused had had an unfortunate spin since arriving in New Zealand two years ago, and he wished to return to England. He was in a position to pay the balance - of the money in a week.
