NEW DENTAL CLINIC SCHEME
CONSTRUCTION NOW SANCTIONED. Representatives of the committees of the majority of the schools interested in the construction of the new dental clinic in New Plymouth were present at a meeting held at the Education Board room last night and it was unanimously decided that the scheme should bo carried out, sanction for the immediate construction being given. Mr. R. A. Coleman, chairman of the Central school committee, which previously controlled the clinic, presided. After a discussion over the allocation of expenses among the schools and the benefits to be derived from the new institution, Mr. A. J. Burr said they were all of one mind and were convinced that an up-to-date dental clinic was a necessity. If the proposal were carried it would be necessary to form a central control body and. he suggested that a clinic committee be formed. The scheme previously outlined was adopted unanimously. A committee of seven was set up to control the dental clinic. Messrs. E. Deacon, W. Healy, J. A. Burr, F. A. Coleman, U. J. Harris, R. Parkin and G. Fluke were appointed and Mr. J. Godfrey was elected the secretary. Several complaints were made about alleged inattention to country children and the chairman was deputed to look into the matter.
