The Premier (Mr. T. 11. Bavin) met the miners’ representatives to-day and had a discussion, on the coal commission’s findings. Mr. Bavin expressed -the hope that the miners’ representatives would arrange to meet the owners in conference, gravely emphasising that the position was rapidly becoming critical, and unless something was done immediately important, public services would close. ■■■ The miners’ representatives argued with Mr. Bavin, questioning the basis of the commission’s findings and finally, declaring they .were not prepared to-accept any reduction in wages, they left the room without committing. themselves to . a further conference with the owners before next Tuesday. -
