CONTROL BOARD UNDER FIRE

“NOT LEAST DOUBT A FAILURE.”

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Pahiatua, Last Night. There was not the slightest doubt the Control Board was a failure so far as the main business of such an institution was concerned, said Mr. P, Lawson, chairman of the company, at the annual meeting of the Rexdale DairyCompany. Its failure to regulate ship ments was an absolute scandal and it was absolutely ridiculous for Mr. W. A. lorns to be running around the country telling farmers what wonderful benefits they were receiving. As a matter of fact they were receiving no benefit which could possibly compensate for the losses taking place. An instance of this was the confession of the chairman himself that cheese belonging to one Pahiatua dairy company was actually kept in the steamer’s hold for 21 days before the ship left for Home. Messrs R. J. Smith and J. G. Brechin also severely criticised the board. It was unanimously resolved that in the opinion of the meeting the question of the continuation of the Control Board should be seriously considered by the dairy industry as a whole with a view to drastic revision of the personnel so that the members of the boaixkwould be-wholly representative of dairy farmers only.
