FOURTH ROUND MATCHES PLAYED

The annual New Zealand ladies’ hockey championships were carried a stage further to-day in ideal spring-like weather, there being a large attendance of the public. In section A Poverty Bay A beat Bush by 6 goals to nil: Rotorua beat South Canterbury by two goals to oney and Southland beat Auckland A by two goals to one. In section B, Canterbury beat Poverty Bay B by 15 goals to nil; Eastern beat Auckland B by six goals to one; and Wellington beat Hawke’s Bay by four goals to three. At the conclusion of to-day’s play the position is as follows: A section, Poverty Bay 3 wins, Ruahine and Southland 2 wins, Bush, South Canterbury and Auckland no wins. Ruahine and Southland played only two matches, having had their byes. Section B: Canterbury 3 wins, Wellington 2 wins, Wairarapa, Hawke’s Bay, Auckland B and Eastern 1 win each, Poverty Bay no wins. Wellington and Wairarapa have played only two matches.
