DUST STORM IN AUSTRALIA

LIGHTS NEEDED AT MIDDAY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—-Copyright. Received Sept. 1, 11.30 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 1. Reports from all parts of New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and Broken Hill describe showers of dust-coloured rain which damaged clothes and property. A violent wind has prevailed during the past two days, raising red dust, presumably in Central Australia.

The atmosphere everywhere was so heavily charged with dust that it became necessary yesterday and to-day to use lights in the middle of the day.
