NEW PLYMOUTH GUN CLUB

WEEK-END SHOOTING MATCHES. DOUBLE-RISE TRAPS IN USE. Conditions were ideal for the weekend shoot of the New Plymouth Gun Club, the almoost total absence of a breeze and the brilliant light being conducive to good scoring. Growing interest in the club was evidenced in the recoid attendance and among the many visitors present were Messrs. V. J. Cornaga (Australia), B. L. Joll and G. Ryan, Hawera.

lhe first shoot of 12 birds was won by V. Simpson, on 11 yards, with 11 birds. The shoot-off for second place was between Joll, Winiki and Jago with nine birds each. Winiki won. In the second match J. Power won it with the possible of 12 birds. All were broken with the first barrel, which was a unique performance. B. Joll was second with nine. A third match of six birds was won by J. Winiki with six kills, the second place going to B. Wheeler with five birds.

The fourth match was new to most shooters, a double rise event being staged. Two clay birds were catapulted from the trap simultaneously to left and right, the marksman being required to kill each bird with one barrel. This proved interesting and spectacular shooting and the result was a tie, with five kills each to Joll, Simpson and Winiki. Winiki proved the winner with Simpson second.

Details of scoring (1 denoting first barrel, 2 second barrel and 0 a miss) are:—•
