OPERATIONS AT NGAERE. ‘•To July 29 suppliers have received Is 7d for the whole season, while at August 9 there remained 1409 crates of cheese unsold,” states the annual report of the Ngaire Dairy Company. “This has been taken in at 7Jd f.0.b., which is considered a safe estimate. On figures at present available the pay-out for the season should not be less than Is Bd.”
Seven hundred and forty-nine tons of cheese w£re manufactured, being an increase of 9.17 per cent, over the previous season. In accordance with the recommendation from suppliers the policy of open consignment was adhered to. At August 9 very heavy stocks of cheese were held at Horae, and it was impossible to make any forecast' as to the prospects of the coming season. Directors retiring by rotation were Messrs T. E. Coleman and 11. C. Taylor, and they were eligible for re-elec-tion.
According to statistics milk received totalled 15,673,4521 b; butter-fat, 640,3281 b; average test, 4.08; pay-out for season 1927-28, Is 1OA<1; cost of manufacture at per lb butter-fat, 2.32 d; other expenses per lb butter-fat, ,72d; total expenses to f.o.b. at per lb butterfat, ,3.04 d. Used for cheese-making. —Milk, 15,283,2561 b; butter-fat, 620,9901 b; cheese, (factory weights), 1,678,1981 b (749 tons 3cwt 1021 b); lbs cheese to 11b butterfat, 2.7021 b; lbs milk to 11b cheese, 9.11 lb; average test, 4.06. Used for butter-making.—Milk, 390,1961 b; butter-fat, 19,3381 b; creamery butter, 23,2701 b (10 tons 7cwt 861 b); lbs creamery butter to lib butter-fat, 1.20331 b; lbs milk to lib creamery butter, 16.771 b; average test, 4.96. GENERAL ITEMS. Mr. C. C. Johnston, secretary to the Stratford Sports and Pastimes Club, received a telegram yesterday from Artie Hay, Hastings, welterweight champion, confirming a match with Reg. Trowern, Auckland, as the chief event at the boxing tournament at Stratford on September 21. PEMBROKE ROAD NEWS. At the euchre party and dance held at the Pembroke Road Hall on Thursday evening Mrs. Aagaard won the ladies’ first prize, which was given by Mrs. Belcher. The second prize was won by Mrs. G. Macdonald, after playing off with Mrs. Wicksteed. The third prize, which was given by Miss Wylre, went to Mrs. Wicksteed, while the “booby” prize was won by Miss Bond. The men’s first prize was won by Mr. G. MacDonald, after playing off with Messrs Aagaard and Dow. The second prize went to B. Dow, and the third . to M V. Aagaard, while the “booby” prize was won bv T. Carley. The dance music was supplied by Miss Z. Aagaard and R. Belcher.
