MAURETANIA’S FAST TRIP. BREMEN STILL UNBEATEN. New York, Aug. 9. With an average speed of 27 knots on her fast run from Cherbourg o xew York, the Cunard liner Mauretania failed bv four and a-half hours to beat the record made recently by the new German liner Bremen, but lowered her own pievious record by about three hours when she arrived yesterday morning. The Bremen's record is four days IS hours 15 minutes, when she averaged -/./ knots, while the official time of the -2-vear-old Cunarder was four dajs ~~ hours 44 minutes. Her previous best tor the trip was live days one hour 4J minutes, nt an average speed of 2b._u knots, in i9’l. Bad weather on Tuesday and Wednesday forced the curtailment of the speed of' the "Old Lady of the Atlantic,” as she was atl'ectionately called.
