THE WINTER SHOW.
OPENING TO-MORROW AFTERNOON
The twentieth annual winter show under the auspices of the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society, will be officially opened to-morrow afternoon by the Hon. J. G. Co'bbe, Minister for Industries, Commerce and Marine, in the Agricultural Hall, Gill Street, New Plymouth. The show, which will remain open tilj Friday night next, promises to be the best the society has yet held. The programme for the week is as follows:—To-morrow morning the judging of all exhibits takes place. At two o’clock in the afternoon the official opening takes place, and by that time most of the award cards will be displayed with the exhibits. The show will remain open till ten o’clock and will not be closed during the tea hour as previously. On Wednesday the Taranaki A. and P. Poultry Club’s show will link up with the show and this will carry on till the show ends. Grading competitions for factory managers and assistants will be held at the Winter Show buildings at 11 a.m., whilst at 2 p.m. the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association will hold its annual meeting at the Forresters’ Hall. At 6 p.m. the Poultry Club’s annual dinner will be held at the Winter Show buildings.
Gn Thursday the New Plymouth Kennel Club’s show will link forces with the other shows, and this will carry on till 10 p.m. on Friday night. Children of town schools will be given a holiday and will be admitted to the show up till 5 p.m. for 3d. In the afternoon, commencing at 2.30 o’clock, the Taranaki Rugby Union will stage a representative match, Taranaki A team v. Taranaki B team. Application has been made to have the afternoon train delayed to depart from New Plymouth at o.io p.m. The whole combination of shows will be in full swing from 9 a.m. till 10 p.m. There will be no closing down during the tea hour. On Friday the children of country schools will have a holiday and will be admitted to the show up till 5 p.m. for 3d. The show will again be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., when the season will be brought to a close. It will be four days and four nights of interest and amusement for all, and it is to be hoped the general public will support it wholeheartedly.
