BIG SUM FOR TREASURY
£500,000. IX DEATH DUTIES. ■Over £500,000 has recently fallen to the British Treasury in death duties oh two estates. They are those of Sir John Fowler Brunner, second baronet, of London, a director of Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., who died -.t the age of G 3, and Mr. Herbert Gosling, of Chertsey, formerly partner in the bank of Messrs Goslings and Sharpe, Fleet Street. Sir John Brunner left unsettled gross estate of £876,102, and the death duties in this instance will bo about £2GO,COO. Bequests to his wife include one of £12,000 a year for life. The bulk of the property goes to his son, the present baronet, to whom he left £4OOO, with a request to make certain provision for servants.
Mr. Gosling left £839.130 gross unsettled, and the death duties will be about £270,000. Among bequests was one of £5OOO in trust for Bennett Gosling’s Charity.
