WANGANUI RIVER CONTROL

ADMINISTRATION UNDER REVIEW.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night.

A suggestion was made at a meeting «f the Wanganui River Trust to-day that the Government be recommended

to repeal the Act, and that the control of the river be vested in the Public

Works Department and the control of . the lands under the trust’s supervision be transferred to the Wellington Land Board.

A lengthy discussion ensued in which it was pointed out that it would/ be a long time before the settlers would be adequately served by roads and the river should be kept open, especially in view of its value as a scenic attraction. No definite action was taken on the motion, a committee being set up to go irito the whole matter of the trust’s administration costs and to make any suggestions thought necessary concerning its work.
