In the Sheffield /Shield cricket match to-day Victoria reached 2-65 in the first innings in reply to New South Wales’ 713 for six wickets. Hooker finished off the tail-enders with three consecutive balls, doing the hat trick. He took six wickets for 43 runs; Bcttington, three for 1)2, and Nicholls, one for 52. The Victorians followed on and in the second innings have lost three wickets for 342 runs. Onyons contributed 131, Scaife 91 and Darling 81 not out. Agfin Hooker distinguished himself, skittling the wicket of Austen, the opening batsman, first ball. Hooker thus took four wickets with four balls.
