WEDDINGS

WESTON—SUTTON. The wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Sutton on October 4, of Inez Elizabeth Sutton and Frederick William Weston, of Uruti. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a dress of blue silk trimmed with cream lace. Sire carried a bouquet of spring flowers, and was attended by her sister, Amie Melva, wearing primrose coloured silk and carrying a bouquet of mixed Iceland poppies. The bridegroom, was attended by his brother, Benedict Percy, as best man. After luncheon the couple left by car for their home in Uruti. JORDAN-CHAPMAN. Tho wedding was solemnised last Saturday in the Methodist church, Stratford, of Miss Cissie Chapman, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Chapman, Standish Street, Inglewood, and Mr. Roy Gordon, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. George Gordon, Avenue Road, New Plymouth. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. W. W. Avery, Eltham. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of navy blue repp with fawn hat and shoes to match. She carried a dainty shower bouquet. The wedding was a very quiet one, the guests afterwards assembling at the I residence of Mrs. W. Benefield, Cordelia Street, Stratford, where the wedding breakfast was held. RITCHIE—CONWAY. At St. Michael’s Church, Sydney, on j Saturday, September 22, the marriage was celebrated of Miss Thelma E. Conway, of Hawera, and Mr. J. G. Ritchie, now of Brisbane (but formerly of Hawera). Mr,. W. Ritchie, brother of the bridegroom, gave the bride away, and little Miss Sylvia Davy, of Hawera, was bridesmaid. The bride’s frock was a beautiful model in ivory georgette and satin with touches of diamante. The long veil of Brussels net (which formed the train), was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. A horseshoe for luck was entwined in the shower bouquet, and from it hung and tinkled many tiny silver shoes. The bridesmaid’s frock was' of

pale blue, crepe de chine and pink tulle and with it she wore a quaint little wreath of pink and blue blossoms, finished with a tulle streamer, her bouquet being pastel tones of mauve, pink and blue. Among the guests at the wedding were Mrs. W. Ritchie (dove grey costume and black hat) and Mrs. D. J. Goodwin of Hawera (black georgette and lace, with black hat) and Mrs. W. W. Davy also of Hawera (who wore beige georgette and lace and hat to tone). After the reception, which was held at The Blue Ribbon, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Ritchie left for Brisbane, where they will make their future home. The bride travelled in a ring velvet ensemble of fairly green, with hat en suite. ROGERS— lIARROP. Miss Joyce Jlarrop was married at St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Wednesday to Mr. John Rogers, formerly of Eltham but now of Otakeho. Tho wedding was a quiet one, only the close relatives of the bride and bridegroom being present. The bride wore a very pretty frock of olive green Celanese with fox fur and model hat to tone. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the home of the bride’s mother, and later Mr. and Mrs. J. Rogers left for the north by car on an extended honeymoon. HAMILTON—FREDRIC. Masses of white blossom decorating the chancel made a picturesque setting for the marriage which took place at First Church, Dunedin, on Monday evening, October 1, of Miss Ninette Fredric, elder daughter of Colonel and Mrs. J. A. P. Fredric, of Union Street, Dunedin, and Mr. Hunter Hamilton, only son of the late Dr. Thomas Hamilton and Mrs. Hamilton, of New Plymouth. The Rev. E. N. Merrington officiated at the ceremony, which was a choral one. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a sleeveless gown of snowwhite tulle fashioned with a tightlyfitting bodice and a long, very full fril-led-to-the-waist skirt over an underdress of transparent laee, which was worked in blue forget-me-nots and pink roses. For a bridal veil she wore a niched tulle bonnet which was caught under the chin by a chin strap and fastened by a posy of orange blossom; from the back of the bonnet fell in billowy folds a long tulle train. She carried a shower bouquet of freesiae, hyacinths aud small orchids, and she wore silver slippers. The bride was attended by three bridesmaids—her sister (Miss Paula Fredric), Miss Hope Penn (Stratford) and Miss Elvine Fenn (Tcmuka)—who wore tulle frocks of pink (graduating in shade) fashioned on the same lines as that worn by the bride. Each attendant wore a fascinating bonnet of pink rushed tulle, which was caught under the chin with a chin strap and fastened by blue posies of forget-me-nots. Silver slippers and long necklaces of crystal beads, with early Victorian posies of deep pink japonica, shell pink hyacinths mingled with forget-me-nots, completed their . charming toilettes. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Raymond Dunster, Christchurch, as best man, and Mr. R. D. H. Swindley, Oamaru, and Mr. W. S. Robertson, Dunedin, as groomsmen. After the reception, which was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton left on their wedding tour by ear, the gift of the bride’s father. The bride was attired in a blue laee frock patterned in gold over blue satin and a chenille georgette coat to tone, heavily trimmed with grey fox fur.
