ROYAL TOURISTS IN AFRICA
WELCOME FROM NATIVE CHIEFS. (British Official Wireless), Rugby, Oct, 4. Tho Prince of Wales rfho, with his brother the Duke of Gloucester, is visiting Kenya, yesterday made the acquaintance of native chiefs and councillors who, attired in full ceremonial dress, received the royal visitors in their.camp near Nairobi. The warriors welcomed them in traditional fashion, dancing and shouting their greetings while the Prince of Wales inspected the camp and examined the various weapons and the methods adopted in using them. The prince formally presented the chiefs with photographs of himself in the uniform of the Welsh Guards. Great appreciation of the visit Is expressed in a letter to the Nairobi Press eigned by five paramount chiefs. They say that above all they were greatly impressed by the fact that the prince addressed them in kiswahili, their native tongue, which he studied while on hie voyage to Africa. The Prince is now interesting himself in preparations for tire Duke of Gloucester’s ; safari or big game hunt. The duke is expected to set out tomorrow through the lonely interior. The prince, has visited the site of the duke’e first camp, which is sHSUated 15 miles from Nairobi.
