PRICELESS ANTIQUES
THIEVES' ACTIVITIES FEARED. POLICEMAN AND A DUCHESS .London, Aug. I. Exceptional precautions have been take to safeguard the antiques, worth £10,000,000 at the Olympia Exhibition. These are due, says the newspaper People, to the presence in London of an American gang of expert art thieves. The gang has been commissioned by unscrupulous collectors, who have offered to purchase the loot at the gang's own price, says the paper. The priceless exhibits necessitate stringent supervision. Therefore, when a lady picked up a piece of valuable china a policeman ordered her to put it down. She obeyed, remarking, "You are quite right.” It was the Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll.
