TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The committee of the Taranaki Automobile Association met last night. Present: Messrs. W. C. Weston (chairman), A. S. Clarke, T. Petty, W. R. Johns, G. Farquhar and Dr. Adamson. A report on the proposal to instal a first-aid telephone on Mt, Messenger was submitted by Mr. Johns, who said it was questionable whether the service given would warrant the expenditure. The estimated cost of a connection with Uruti was £3O, and even then the service would not be continuous. A continuous connection with Waitara could not be obtained, and the only alternative was a connection with a private line from Ahititi, which would be very expensive.—lt was decided to take no action. The Auckland Automobile Association sought information as to whether the North Egmont mountain track would be open for two way traffic next November. Other -details regarding toll fees and various matters were also asked for, the information being required for the next issue of the North Island Road Guide. —The letter was referred to the hostelry committee. A letter was received from the Taranaki Women’s Club stating that the club had a scheme for bringing more happiness into the lives of patients at the public hospital. It was proposed that, as part of the scheme, eight to twelve convalescent women patients should be taken out each week for a motor run. It might mean two cars, and sometimes would mean only one. Perhaps the Rugby enthusiasts might consider granting passes for the patient's. The medical superintendent said that th© question of entertainment was more needful for men patients than for women. —The matter was referred to the executive. Regarding the erection of signs on main highways in the Inglewood County, the council asked in a letter whether the association would undertake the work, under the direction of the county overseer.—lt was decided to reply that the association would carry out the work, on the understanding that the cost would be borne by the council. The following new members were elected: Messrs. W. H. Moyes, R. Johnson, A. W. Diprose, G. F. Styles, J. W. Thomas, V. F. Marks, J. T. Gardiner, A. E. Wiggins, W. A. Brown, A. E. Andrews, J. D.
