PETITION IN DIVORCE

DECREE NISI GRANTED. Misconduct was the ground on which Charlotte Rachel Oakes sought dissolution of her marriage with Bertram John Oakes before Mr. Justice “Reed in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth yesterday. Petitioner stated that she was married on December 24, 1913, at Hawera. There were eight children of the marriage. In October, 1926, her husband started “carrying on” with another woman and was now living with her in Wellington. She alleged that adultery '.had taken place at Normanby, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Te Aroha and Wellington. Letters were produced in which respondent expressed great sorrow for what he had done, and the trouble he had brought on his wife and children. It was explained that he was £7O behind in payment under an order of maintenance for the children. A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute in three months.
