DEMAND FOR STOCK.

ALL CLASSES SOUGHT AFTER. f After the frequent warm rains of late Mie feed has come away remarkably well in -South Taranaki, and at present there is a good demand for all classes of stock. There ie still a keen inquiry for forward bullocks and eteers as well as forward cows, and very few lines appear to be left in the province. It is almost impossible to secure any large lines. Fat cattle are scarce and prices are yising every day. The in-calf heifer market is not quite so animated as it was q few weeks ago, but indications point to an increased demand shortly. There have been several northern buyers operating, and fair consignments have left the district at prices from £lO to £lO 10s. There is a lull in the demand for weaner heifers, and it appears that all pow unsold will have to be wintered. There is a steady demand for all classes of sheep and several large lines of in-lamb ewes have changed hands recently at good prices. There is a keen demand for store wethers and mixed-sex hoggets, which have advanced in price. Eat sheep, both ewes and wethers, are hardening in price all the time, and are apparently in short supply. Pigs are still selling fairly well, and large vardings arc coming in to the sales. A number of farmers are bringing porkers to the sales and*ire realising very good prices. Next month the clearing sales comjnence and there is every prospect that dairy cattle will sell well.
