Excellent acceptances have been received for the second day’s raeeg at Wanganui. * * * • Proceedings open with the Rata Hack Hurdles. Peshwa won convincingly on Thursday, but trouble may come from Mister Gamp. • • # * Kawhakina heads the list in the hack distance race, and on his forward running in the Connolly Handicap he should be able to account for Flying Shot. • • • •

The chief event on the programme, the Century Hurdles, will see nine runners. Red Fuchsia is not overburdened with weight, but Aherfeldy and Perle de Leon also stay well.

* * • « The Grandstand Steeplechase will be u good race if Puwhero and Maunga go to the post, while Mixed Heather may have a jumper’s chance. • # # #

In the Empire Handicap, Hocomea and Blimp again read. well. Paitonu did not race on Thursday, and with Partaga may trouble the first day’s placed horses. • • « •

The McKenzie trainer, Drum Withers, has a large team engaged at the meeting, and whatever this capable horseman is behind will be well supported by the public. # • » •

Return Voyage is a classy bred youngster of the front off the Advance Hliandicap, 1% miles, and along with Danny Boy, one of Drum Withers’ team, should step a merry clip. • • • •

The big race of the day is the President’s Handicap, two miles, 4.37 class, with a stake of 450 sovs. The 17 engaged are capable of going the full journey. The judge may notice Jolly Pet and Jackie Audubon on the day.

Although the mile and a quarter saddle is a slow class race (3min), and one of the biggest fields of the day is engaged. There are a number of speedy pacers engaged. Guide Rangi and Florrie Pointer are quick be»ginners. • • • •

Repute is off the front of the two mile trottere’ 4.55 class, and 12 yards behind comes Commander Bingen (R. Townly). Delores, on 4H, is American bred, and will be driven by D. Withers. These three can trot when doing it right.

Roy Berry just needs to hop Dundas Boy off smartly in the Enfield Handicap to make tilings interesting. Jolly Chimes is a great beginner with a lot of toe.
