BIG FIRE AT OPOTOKI

THREE SHOPS DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.’ Opotiki, Nor. 15. A wooden block of buildings in the centre of the town owned by MeGrevy Bros, was destroyed by fire at 2.39 a.m. The shops were occupied by Mrs. Vodd, tearooms and confectionery; G. Wells, cycle shop; and F. Clark, accountant. Tho fire started in the tearooms and had a good hold before the brigade arrived. Brick walls on both sides confined the outbreak to three shops. All were insured, but they are heavy lasers of Christmas goods in stock.
