DAIRY MARKET OUTLOOK

LONDON END OPTIMISTIC TRICES ARE EXPECTED TO HOLD. DULLNESS IN RECENT WBFKS. (By Wire—Special to News.) Auckland, Last Night. A favourable view of the future of ■the dairy produce market in London is presented in a report by cablegram received to-day by A. S. Paterson and Company. Butter ig quoted at 176 s per cwt., compared with 176 g to 178 s last week, but it is noted that the market is steadier," and it is expected prices will hold or improve during the next month. Cheese is quoted nominally at 104 s, against 105 s last week, and the market is reported as “dull,” although the “outlook is favourable.”

Commenting on this report in a circular issued to dairy factories, the company states in respect to butter "that the recent decline in prices has been a little unaccountable. * We are glad, therefore, to have London's expectation that the market will now Hold and possibly improve during the next month. There has been a very decided dullness pervading the market for some little lime, and while the position is steadier, there is still an absence of brightness and activity.

“The high prices for cheese which have been ruling, and still rule, have brought about a dullness in this market also, and the price quoted to-day L described as nominal.

“The period of forward buying for portions of outputs for the manufacture up to the end of November and the end of the year has terminated and buyers are holding off. At the same time the outlook is favourable and we do not consider there is a likelihood of any material fall in prices in the near future. "Generally speaking, both the butter and cheese markets can be described as being in a quite satisfactory state.”
