TWO GF THE BODIES RECOVERED. By Ttlegrapli.—Press Association. Chri«tchurch, Oct. 18. At noon only one body had been reeovered of the three boys drowned in the Heathcote River., yeste: .lay, it being that of George Eden, aged nine. The punt, ■ bviously unsea worthy, bad been lying on the.riverbank for a long time. It had large gups in its sides and was almost-filled-with mud. . Boys on their way home from school played in it. Men who had seen the punt on the bunk said.it was.a. wonder that it did not sink immedia.ely. From tho little girl’s story it is. evident that the three children had almost crossed the river before the boat went under. She said that the prow pointed suddenly down-'.ar-l; and the punt made a swift dive. Christchurch, List Night.
The body of John L Owning, the eldest of the three boys wh.. were drowned in the Heathcote River , esterday, was recovered this evening, a few yards below where the first body was found.
