MOTOR STRIKES HORSE.

ACCIDENT AT HAWERA. TWO MEN SENT TO HOSPITAL. (From Our Own Reporter.) Hawera, Last Night. At about 6.30 this evening, .while passing a car travelling south along Glover Road, Mr. Leydon, a local dairyman, driving a milk delivery van, collided with a man on horseback, and sustained injuries requiring his removal to hospital. The rider of the horse suffered from cuts and bruises about the leg, and was also taken to the hospital for attention but later discharged Mr. Leydon sustained a fractured skull as well as cuts and abrasions. The ear was badly damaged, the windscreen and steering gear being completely wrecked. Mr. Leydon’s nephew, who was in the van at the time of the impact, miraculously escaped serious injury.
