Mr. P. H. Hartland, railway district traffic manager, Wanganui, arrived in New Plymouth by yesterday afternoon’s train. Mr. R. H. Quilliam, who has been on a visit to California, returned to New Plymouth on Tuesday. Official advice of his appointment as Official Assignee in Auckland has been received by Mr. G. N. Morris, who has been acting in the position since the retirement of Mr. W. 8. Fisher last year. Mr. Morris, who has been in the Government service for 24 years, was formerly .csident commissioner at Nieue Island, states a Press Association message. Mr. Charles Rhodes, acting-district governor of Rotary in New Zealand, arrived in New Plymouth from Auckland yesterday. Last evening he conferred with the directors and chairman of committees o* the local club. To-day he will be th guest of the club at luncheon, and to morrow he goes on to Hawera, where h will address the local Rotarians.
