ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES. The residents in the West riding of the Stratford County are protesting against the transfer of that district from the Stratford to the Egmont electorate. Situated as they are in a district contiguous to the borough of Stratford, it is perhaps only natural that they desire to continue in an electorate in which the whole of their local interests are to be found. The meeting held at Cardiff on Monday night showed how strojig g the feeling is in regard to the matter. Despite this, however, the difficulties which confront th e Electoral Boundaries Commissioners were not lost sight of, and a practical suggestion was made. It ’ was proposed that representatives from the riding should meet the Commissioners personally, not merely to lay before them their objections to being linked with an electorate with which they have no community of interest, but also to assist in suggesting a better and more natural bounuary 'for the electorate. If such a deputation is arranged for, they may be quite assured of a dispassionate hearing from the Commissioners. The nature of the duties entrusted to them is almost bound to result in what may, in certain districts, appear arbitrary decisions. The rearrangement of electorates is by no means a simple task, but if, without losing sight of the main objects of the rearrangement, local wishes can be respected, and conditions which have been proved to be satisfactory left undisturbed, there is little doubt that such action will be preferred by the Commissioners as well as by the electors concerned.
