His Majesty thq King gave audience to Captain Lindbergh, and decorated him with the Royal Air Force Cross, states a London cable.
Mr. J. H. C. Bond, Dominion superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, arrived this afternoon from Wellington on a business trip, in connection with overseas shipping. Lorraine Bonar, youngest son of the late Hon. James A. Bonar, was found dead in bed at his farm at Koiterangi this morning (repoits a Hokitika Press Association message). He had been in failing health. The inquest will be held to-morrow. He was 46 and unmarried.
A petition signed by a large number of Eltham residents and businessmen has been forwarded to Commissioner Hay in Wellington requesting that Major and Mrs, Armstrong, who have been in charge of the Salvation Army Boys’ Home for the past two years, and who received notice of their transfer to take charge of the Putaruru training farm in the Waikato, be allowed io remain in Eltham for at least a further term of two years.
