A “kitchen” evening was tendered to Miss L. Swan in the Savoy on Thursday on the eve of her marriage. There were many friends present and the evening was spent in dancing and games. «»* " *
At the parade of the Hawera Girl Guides on Thursday, Lieutenant P. Brant, who is leaving for Wellington, was farewelled, Miss A. Ballantine, captain of No. 2 Company, explaining that Miss Brant had been the first lieutenant to fully qualify in Hawera. A bouquet was presented to Miss Brant by Patrol Leader Alma Conway, and, on • behalf of the Guides,- Mrs. F. C. King, captain of No. 1 Company, gave Miss Brant a silver pencil.
