MYSTERY OF CORAL REEFS

CHAINS OF SEA SKELETONS RESEARCH TRIP BY NATURALISTS STUDENTS TO VISIT AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 8, 7.30 p.m. London, April 8. For the purpose of more closely studying the biological reasons for the ebullition of life causing the Great Barrier reef, Professor A. Potts, lecturer on zoology at Cambridge University, is endeavouring to form an expedition of scientists. Personally, he hopes to go to Australia at the end of June, and his companions will leave a fortnight later. The personnel of the expedition has not yet been decided, but Professor Potts hopes to get the services of all the foremost men, some of whom may have difficulty in getting leave. Professor Potts plans to provide a headquarters at Cairns, with a camp on a nearby island, using a chartered 40 ton motor-boat, capable of carrying trawls and nets.

The expedition will have the advice and help of Professor Richards, of Brisbane, also the practical experience of Professor Potts, who was a member of the Murray Island expedition in 1913. A, committee, headed by Sir Nathan, is assisting with the organisation.
