MANAIA NEWS.
PERSONAL NOTES. (■From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Christie, accompanied by their daughter, left Manaia yesterday morning for Wellington en route to England and the Continent. Their many friends in Manaia and South Taranaki wish them a pleasant trip and a safe return. Mr. W. J. Snowdon has been appointed acting-chairman of the Manaia Building and Investment Company during the absence of Mr. Christie. Mr. Gardiner, of Wellington, one of the senior inspectors of the Health Department, was a visitor to Manaia yesterday. Accompanied by Mr. Coleman, the South Taranaki inspector, he was in touch with Manaia authorities, making arrangements for the opening of a new health district in Taranahi. In the course of a month or two, a doctor, attached to the department, will be stationed in New Plymouth. Building operations in connection with the new premises for the Bank of New Zealand at Manaia have commenced, and from the plans exhibited, a fine concrete building will be erected. The approach of winter was clearly shown last Saturday at the Domain. Over 40 footballers were practising and, from the enthusiasm shown so early in the season, lovers of the grand old game in the plains should be able to witness eome good matches.
