TANGARAKAU SCHOOL

GRANT ASKED FOR ALTERATIONS. The Raekohua school in the township at Tangarakau Flat was visited on Monday by Mr. S. G, Smith (chairman), the Rev. J. L. A. Kayll (member), and Messrs. 0. H. Moore (areiii-.ee*) and H. W. Instill (secretary), of the Taranaki Education Board. As a re- ; suit, it has been Secided to apply to [the department for a grant for necessary structual alterations. Part of the Raekohua building was brought from Tariki and part from Tahora. and the re-erection was carried out by the Public Works Department, whose meu are at present engaged on railway construction work. The school was opened about the m ddlo of ,'ast year under a relieving teacher, but so rapidly did the attendant grow that at the beginning of.this year Mr. L. M. Fairbrother was appointed. -To-day the roll number ia 117.

Mr. P. Shanks, chairman of the school committee, met the party and discussed the necessary improvements.
