STATE MONOPOLY OF TREES

ATTITUDE OF NURSERYMEN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Jan. 5. While commending the plantation of waste areas by the Government and municipalities, remits in connection with State afforestation led to a lengthy discussion in committee when the New Zealand Association of Nurserymen resumed its annual conference this morning. It was ultimately decided to refer the matter to the executive with power to take action to secure a reasonable basis of ending the impasse with regard to the supply of forest trees to the public. If the Government decided to make a State monopoly of this, nurserymen are prepared to sell out at a reasonable valuation and cease business in that sphere of industry.
