Yorkshire beat the New Zealand League team at Huddersfield by 17 points to 16. The weakness of the goal kicking ! ost the visitors the game, especially in the second half when otherwise their play vastly improved. Yorkshire went off at a great pace and speedily scored through Crowther, Gallagher, and Horton a try which Osborne converted. The New Zealanders rallied and Mason scored, Dut.y failing to convert. Yorkshire were leading at the interval ... 15 to three. Yorkshire opened the scoring after the interval, Osborne kicking a penalty goal. After that the New Zealanders delighted the assembly of three thousand w:i r brilliant running and passing nt speed. Also the forwards began getting the ball in the serums, enabling Hall anil Dclgroeeo to show their nine form and lead the Yorkshire halves, Parkin and Todd, a merry dance. The Yorkshire forwards entirely failed to hold the opposing pack and Brown, Davidson, and Herring scored, Dufty converting two. Twice the visitors deserved additional tries in the dosing stages, but Osborne repeatedly saved the home side, his disnlav overshadowing Dufty’e. The New Zealanders’ three-quarters were maguificient, Brown and Davidson making thrilling rune. Sanders tackled most effectively. Jason and Avery were the pick of the forwards. Altogether Yorkshire scored three tries and four goals and New Zealand four tries and two goals. The New Zealand team was: Dufty, Brown, Davidson, Brisbane, Sanders, Hall, Dtlgrosso, Menzies, Herring, Par' ker, Thomas, Mason. Avery. GARDENER beSPENDED. London, Dec. 15. Gardiner has been suspended by the League for three matches for his offence at St. Helens when he struck tho touch judge. The Rugby League Council is not arranging matches for the New Zealanders in Paris, London, Belfast or South Wales, owing to the injuries and illness of some of the visitors. MORE TROUBLE OYER MANAGER. Received Dee. 16, 5.5 p.m. London, Dee. 15. Trouble has again broken out in the New Zealand League team owing to the re appearance of Mr. Mair upon tho selection committee. Five forwards refused to turn out against Yorkshire and wbstitutes took the field. Received Dec. lu, 7.5 p.m. London, Dec. 15. The xiaily Mail states that Carroll, Devine, Peterson, Singe and Henry refused to play against the Yorkshire League team owing to Mr. Mair resuming his managerial duties. Owing to injuries received by other players this left only 15 men from whom to choose a team.
