DEAN INGE ON HELL.
"The modern revolt against the dreadful picture of hell which we have inherited was inevitable,” said Dean Inge during a university sermon at Durham Cathedral. He did not think, however, they had any right to assume that all would go to heaven—we had many who would be very much out of place there any time. But that God was a torturer he could not believe any longer, nor could the fires of hell be taken literally.
