THE PRINCE AND TOC H.
SECRET VISIT TO MANCHESTER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Dec. 12. The Prince of Wales, as patron of Toe 11, lighted a Lamp of Remembrance at Mark Four branch. Victoria Park, Manchester. Arising from the desire to give the meeting the character of a family gathering, details of the Prince's visit were kept secret. The Prince entrained after hunting in Leicestershire and changed into a motor car at Chorlton-Cum-Hardy. Despite the secrecy huge crowds gathered along the route from Chorlton to Manchester, but failed to get a glimpse of the Prince, whose motor car was unlighted. A vast congregation welcomed the Prince at the Cathedral, where the service was as specially written by tho Rev. Mr. Clayton. It was a paraphrase of parts of “Pilgrim's Progress.” Mr. Clavton, as “Goodwill,” stood at the wicket-gate and clergymen in different parts of the congregation rose and each recited a passage from Bunyan. The Prince left Manchester at night as secretly as he arrived.
