MOTOR-CYCLE RACING

RETURN OF MR. H. H. MOLLER. After an absence of nine months, Mr. H. H. Moller, the well-known track motor-cyelist, has returned to New Plymouth. Mr. Moller left New Plymouth in May last with the intention of competing in the Tourist Trophy Race in the Isle of Man, where slight trouble with his machine in the fifth lap and a failure to start after slipping on some soft tar compelled him to retire. During the little practice over the course his times were equal to some of those of the leading English riders. During his visit to England Mr. Moller devoted some time to visiting various large manufacturing concerns. He also visited the Bristol aeroplane works and witnessed the Henley air pageant, in which on one occasion 50 machines were in the air at the same time. He also paid several visits to Brooklands, but owing to the size of the course dirt not fined the racing so thrilling as that of motor-cycling on the smaller grass tracks in New Zealand. With Mr. Harold Morey (New Plymouth) he was also an interested spectator amongst thousands on the Thames embankment, when Sir Alan Cobham completed his memorable flight amid scenes of great enthusiasm. Mr. Moller has brought back a 1.1 model Norton motor-cycle with which he had intended to race in Sydney, but the New Zealand meetings he found were more attractive, both in organisation and in prize-money, so he returned to take part in the meeting that was to have been held in Auckland on Saturday. This, however, was postponed. He intends to compete this year at all the leading meetings in the Dominion.
