Mr. and Mrs. Imlay Saunders, of Wanganui, are staying in New Plymouth. Aiderman Moetyn has been elected as Lord Mayor of Sydney for 1927. A London message reports the death of Miss Rosaline Courtneidge, the actress, At one time district traffic manager with the Railway Department at Wanganui, Mr. A. K. Harris, general superintendent of transportation, will resign from the service on February 1 next. The death has occurred of Mr. Thomas Parkinson, an old resident of Hawera, and a well-known Maori War veteran, at the ago of 90 years. Mr. Parkinson came to New Zealand in 1808 in the ship Matilda Wattenbaeh. He landed at Auckland, and settled in the Waikato district, where he was engaged in farming. He was a keen volunteer, and served in the Maori War. Me Parkinson came to Taranaki about 38 years ago.
