BIG GAME FISHING
COMING TOUR OF ZANE GREY ——- \ ELABORATE PREPARATIONS MADE. MOTHER SHIP AND Fl\ E LAUNCHES By Telegraph.— Press Association. M’ellington, Dec. 7. According to information just to hand tire most elaborate preparations have been in train for Mr. Zane Grey’s second fishing expedition to New Zealand, which is to commence next month. The presence in the Dominion again of the noted novelist and party is expected to do much toward advertising New Zealand, particularly in view of the arrangements that have been made to create what is predicted to be the greatest fishing picture the world lias yet seen. The expedition is to be called “The Zane Grey-Alma Baker Expedition."* According to Mr. C. Alma Baker, who is responsible for the information, there will be five fishermen on board, 31r. Zane Grey, Mr. R. C. Grey (his brother), Captain L. Mitchell, Mr. Romer Grey (3lr. Zane Grey’s son), and Mr. C. Alma Baker. Mr. Zane Grey is sending his large boat, The Fisherman, to act as mother ship in the various expeditions away from the New Zealand coast, and there will be five fishing launches, one for each member of the party. Mr. Zane Grey and his party are to come to New Zealand by steamer and they will meet here as they did last year on January 19. The expedition will probably take up to the middle of August. It will be well equipped. There will be two scientists, a doctor, and probably an English naval officer, who has been engaged in the survey work in .the South Sea Islands. There will be two very expert motion-picture camera men on board, and two still-picture men. It is probable, therefore, that the party will create an interesting fishing picture, including marine life of every sort, eamp life, aboardsliip life, and trout and salmon fishing. In a letter to the Government Publicity Officer, Mr. A. H. ilessenger, 3lr. Zane Grey states his party will inelude Captain and 3lrs. Mitchell, Miss Smith, his brother, his son and his son’s friend, 3lr. John Shields, and Mr. Frank Stick, a New Y’ork artist, and they will arrive at Wellington on January 17. They will remain the night in Wellington and then proceed to Auckland.
