THE WAIKATO DIOCESE
ENTHRONEMENT OF BISHOP. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS. Archdeacon Chcrrington, bishop-elect of the Waikato diocese, will be enthroned at St. Peter’s Church, Hamilton, on Tuesday, November 30, St. Andrew's Day. All the Taranaki e'ergy, and probably a layman from each parish, will leave for the North by special service cars on November 29, and will return on December 2. There will be Holy Communion at 6 and 7 a.m. on the day of the consecration, and this ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. A garden party will be held at the vicarage between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the enthronement of the bishop will take place in the church at 8 o’clock. On the Wednesday a short session of the synod will be held. It has been decided that a minimum sum of £14,000 is necessary ns a central capital fund, the revenue from which would go toward helping the poorer parishes and the home mission districts. The sum of £20,000 is really required, but the minimum aimed at is £14,000. Toward this amount £6OOO has been subscribed or promised. St. Mary’s parish, New Plymouth, was asked to raise £1750 and already about £lOOO has been received in cash and £530 promised. The proposal is to obtain £3500 in North Taranaki and of this £2OOO is definitely in sight. The people of Hamilton will shortly bo asked to subscribe to the fund. Provision has been made for the maintenance costs of the diocese, which are estimated at £3OOO a yearTho purchase of a permanent bishopscourt Las been postponed until after ths arrival of the bishop-elect.
