CONCILIATION COURT.
COMMISSION’S WORK REDUCED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Sept.. 13. Mr. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, at a meeting of employers and workers, explained the changes made in industrial and conciliation matters by which the work of the three Commissioners in the Dominion would in future be done by two. One would have charge of the whole North Island, Nelson and Marlborough; the other would take the remaining districts of the South Island. A number of trade organisations were settlin'* their troubles by Dominion conferences and awards and by the procedure of the Arbitration Court a number of clauses had been standardised, covering routine and other matters. The Apprentices Aet had further diminished. the work of the councils, all business dealing with apprentices being covered by special committees. Thus the actual work of hearing industrial disputes had been reduced. If the new system worked without inconvenience it would continue; if not he was sure the Minister would find a remedy without delay. Mr. Hally was heartily congratulated bv the employers and workers on his appointment,
