WELLINGTON FIRE BOARD.
ESTIMATES FOR FIRST YEAR

The Fire Board estimates for the first year of its existence, to be provided jointly by the City Council, fire insurance companies and the Government, amount to £28,787. This figure is a great deal larger than any annual grant the council was ever called upon to pay, but £5'200 of the money is the first annual payment to the city for the purchase by the board of the properties and plant, payment for which jias been arranged over a, period of 20 years. The board is also dispensing with obsolete plant and acquiring a new engine and a quantity of hose.
