PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS. Last Friday afternoon, Aliss Amy Wills gave an enjoyable afternoon, those present being: Alisses Hawken (2), Page, Lysaght, Black and Goodson (2). ** * * * Airs. C. J. Hawken gave a party at uer residence, Alokoia, on Wednesday, for her small daughter Mickey, the young people present spending a very pleasant afternoon. # * * * On Thursday Aliss Corrigan gave a children’s picnic at ‘’The Oaks,” the little guests spending a very enjoyable ahernoon. * * * * Mrs. Bright has returned from a visit to Wanganui. ***** Aliss Doris doll lias? gone to Wellington for a holiday after having spent a strenuous time at the local competitions. FLNGAGEMENTS. The friends of Alisw Hilda Valentine, M.A.. lately on the stall* of the New Plymouth Girls’ High School, will be interested to hear of her engagement to Mr. A. J. ITarrop, D.Litt., of the Daily Alail stall in London. Dr. Harrop is a Hokitika boy who graduated at Canterbury College, and was awarded a special scholarship tenable at Cambridge University After completing his studies, Dr. Harrop turned his attention io journalism and has written much for various periodicals. The marriage will take place in London on September 20.
