PENALTY FOR CRIME.
SENTENCES AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, Aug. IS. In the Supreme Court John Francis Schdroski was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for theft committed two years ago, since when he had changed his name, but was unearthed by the police recently when he stole money, etc., from the trunk of a fellow worker, which he broke into with a tin-opener. Twelve months’ reformative detention was imposed on a land salesman, Stanly Thomas, who was found guilty of misappropriation of money connected with the subdivision and sale of the Papakura station estate. His Honour said accused was engaged by an old man, Prictor, to carry out the land transaction, and was given authority to operate on Prictor's bank account for -certain purpose's.
