Mr. S. G. Smith has been re-appointed chairman of the Taranaki Education Board. • The Taranaki Education Board ye»ter« day recorded its high sense of appreciation of the long and faithful services of Miss L. Mynott, infant mistress at tho West End .School, who has tendered he» ro’ignation. Charles Edward Dahl, of Palmerston North, has received his insignia and royal warrant from tho King of Denmark, conferring upon him the honoux of Knight of the Ensign (Rider of Dannebrog). The coveted decoration wae instituted in 1693, and is conferred upon those who have performed signal service in the interests of Denmark. Mr. Dahl, who was born in 1856, is well known in dairying circles throughout New Zealand. Mr. Douglas G. Ball, LL.B., who has been appointed an organising teaches under the Taranaki Education Board, with headquarters at Te Kuiti, is at present occupying the position of head teacher at Grovetown School, Blenheim, whieh he has held for the last seven years. Thirty years of age, Mr. Ball has been 10 years in the department, and saw service in the war, being assistant adjutant, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, at 22 years of age, while at 23 years ho was headmaster of a grade 3G school His grading number waa 77 and, keenly interested in all modem developments in education, Mr. Ball wae strongly recommended for the appointment by Wellington inspectors. Thera were 21 applicants. Mr. Dauglos G. Ball, LLB., headmaster of the Grovetown School, Blenheim, has been appointed organising teacher under the Taranaki Education Board. Ho is only 30 years of age, and has had * remarkably brilliant career during his - 16 years as a teacher. He has been strongly recommended by Wellington inspectors. He was an officer in the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, and wae headmaster of a grade 30 school when 23 years of agefl He is highly graded, and is qualified to teach physical drill, , life-saving and singing. Mr. R. Masters wrote to the Taranaki Education Board yesterday stating that owing to pressure of business he could not accept the position of the board’s representative on the Stratford Technical IligSi School. Mr. S. Ward was appointed to fill the vacancy.
